2022 Cartier Santos WSSA0039 40mm Black ADLC Case & Bezel

$7,919.00

Introduced in 1904, the Cartier Santos traces its origins to a request from Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who wanted a practical way to read the time while flying. Designed by Louis Cartier, the watch helped establish the wristwatch as a modern essential, with its distinctive square case, exposed screws, and seamlessly integrated lugs becoming defining elements of the Maison’s design language.

The Cartier Santos de Cartier WSSA0039 brings a bold, contemporary edge to this historic design, pairing a black dial with a black ADLC-coated steel bezel for a stealth-inspired aesthetic. The large-model stainless steel case measures 39.8mm and retains the collection’s signature exposed bezel screws, while the octagonal crown is set with a black faceted synthetic spinel.

The black dial features Cartier’s signature sword-shaped hands filled with luminescent material, offering clear legibility against the dark backdrop. A date display at 6 o’clock adds everyday practicality, while the sapphire crystal protects the dial. Powering the watch is Cartier’s Manufacture Calibre 1847 MC, a self-winding mechanical movement with an approximately 42-hour power reserve. The QuickSwitch interchangeable strap system allows for effortless versatility, with both a black rubber strap and an additional black alligator leather strap included. Each strap is fitted with an interchangeable stainless steel deployant buckle.

Offered in pre-owned condition, this example shows only minor sings of wear and is free of any superficial scratches or dings. As pictured, this timepiece is accompanied by its original Cartier outer box, presentation box, additional alligator leather strap, specialized Cartier strap and link-changing tool, and warranty card dated January 2022. Combining the Santos’ unmistakable design heritage with a distinctive blacked-out configuration, the WSSA0039 delivers a modern, understated take on one of Cartier’s most recognizable wristwatches.
