1984 Rolex Submariner 5513 White Gold Surround Glossy Dial
Few vintage Submariners offer the combination of originality, provenance, and completeness found in this 1984 Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513. Purchased new by its original owner in June 1986, the watch has remained with the same owner since and is accompanied by its original box, documentation, and accessories.
The 40mm stainless steel case retains strong proportions, defined crown guards, and preserved chamfers, with honest surface wear consistent with its age and history. The glossy black lacquer dial remains particularly attractive, featuring applied hour markers outlined in 18k white gold and original tritium plots that have aged to a warm, creamy tone. A domed plexiglass crystal maintains the unmistakable vintage Submariner profile.
Inside, the watch is powered by Rolex Caliber 1520, an automatic movement offering approximately 48 hours of power reserve. The watch retains its original Rolex 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 end links and a J7 clasp code, dating the clasp to July 1985 and making it appropriate for the watch's 8.780 million serial range. The bracelet currently has 10 links installed along with the dive extension, with one additional link included separately, as pictured.
Adding another layer of provenance, the case back is engraved “J.A.C.,” corresponding with the name documented on the original warranty papers. The case and bracelet exhibit natural signs of use accumulated over nearly four decades, giving the watch an honest, well-preserved character. The domed crystal remains free of any significant damage.
This example is offered as a complete set with its original Rolex display box, Submariner booklet, operating manual, Chronometer hangtag, and international warranty papers dated June 1986. For collectors, the appeal lies in the details: a strong and original 5513, period-correct components, a documented single-owner history, and a complete set of original accessories and paperwork. Together, they make this a particularly well-preserved example of the classic four-digit Submariner.
