1966 Rolex GMT Master 1675 Pepsi Gilt Dial
Few vintage GMT-Masters capture the character of the original Pepsi quite like this Rolex GMT-Master, reference 1675. Dating production to 1966 with a 1.43 million serial number, this 40mm stainless steel example brings together the defining details collectors seek in an early GMT: a gilt dial, naturally aged patina, a beautifully faded Pepsi bezel and a rivet bracelet.
The case retains strong crown guards with well-defined proportions. Beneath the acrylic crystal, the glossy black gilt dial features warm gold-toned text and minute track, complemented by buttery patina across the hour markers and hands. The original red-back Pepsi bezel insert is particularly striking, with its red section aged to a rich burnt sienna hue of earthy orange and reddish brown, contrasted by a subtly faded blue.
This timepiece features ROW movement markings indicating US delivery on the Caliber 1575. Around the 1.4M serial range, the GMT-Master transitioned from the Caliber 1565 to the Caliber 1575, and this piece, as expected, has the proper 1570 engraving on the winding bridge, consistent with the period.
Completing the watch is it’s original Rolex USA C&I rivet bracelet, reference 7206, with 11 links and a 2/67 date stamp (indicating February 1967 manufacturing). Showing light scratching, mild to moderate stretch, consistent with careful wear, this example remains in overall good condition.
For the vintage Rolex collector, this 1675 brings together the defining appeal of an early GMT-Master: gilt dial execution, naturally aged character, and a distinctive Pepsi bezel shaped by decades of wear. A classic world-travel companion with unmistakable vintage presence.
