This example features a striking black dial with tritium indices and handset that have undergone a beautiful, even transition to a rich, deep buttery patina. The tone has developed uniformly across both dial and hands, with the handset matching the markers perfectly, creating a cohesive and highly attractive vintage aesthetic that greatly enhances the watch’s character. This piece bears an 8.1 million serial number, dating case production to approximately 1983. The Rolex self-winding movement is running very well, with the date advancing correctly. The bezel and insert remain in good condition, showing minor visible scratches consistent with general wear. The watch is fitted with a stainless steel Oyster bracelet stamped with an EB1 date code, indicating a Rolex service replacement bracelet. The bracelet includes 12 links with dive extension and exhibits very light stretch. Overall, this unpolished timepiece remains in very nice condition, showing only superficial scratching throughout the case and bracelet. The case remains sharp and thick, while the coronet on the clasp is exceptionally crisp. The watch was serviced by Rolex in 2016 and is accompanied by its service records. This timepiece is accompanied by its original Rolex outer box, inner display box, Submariner booklets, Rolex service records, and original warranty papers dated December 1986.
