1971 Rolex Submariner No Date 5512 "Feet-First" Dial - $29,999
We’re pleased to present this stainless steel “feet first” Rolex Submariner, reference 5512, with a 40mm case. This example has a 2.7 million serial number, dating case production to 1971. The reference 5512 is particularly notable within the Submariner lineage, as it was the first model to introduce crown guards, marking a significant evolution in the design. Unlike its sibling, the 5513, the 5512 is COSC-certified, requiring a more complex movement and resulting in lower production numbers. This piece features a beautiful matte black dial with tritium lume plots that have aged to an attractive patina. The hands of the watch are a slightly lighter tone but remain period correct. The dial is paired with a bidirectional black bezel insert. Protecting the dial is a domed plexiglass crystal.
The watch is currently fitted with 285 end links and an original Rolex 9315 folded-link Oyster bracelet with 11 links, stamped with an “A” date code, dating production to 1976. The bracelet shows superficial scratching throughout, but retains a crisp and well-defined coronet on the clasp. The case has been previously polished and shows superficial scratching and a few minor dings. There is a faint engraving on the caseback of the watch reading “R.E.N.”. This piece is accompanied by its original outer box, inner box, bezel booklet, vinyl papers holder, anchor, Chronometer guide, “punched” Chronometer papers, “punched” and dealer stamped Guarantee papers/booklet that is dated in October of 1972.
