1971 Rolex Submariner 5512 Matte Black Dial - $21,999
We are delighted to present this beautifully preserved Rolex Submariner Reference 5512, with a 2.79 million number, dating to circa 1971. Crafted in stainless steel, the 40mm case is one of the first Submariners to feature crown guards, marking a key milestone in the model’s evolution. The previously polished case presents nicely, underscoring its careful preservation, while the watch remains in nice vintage condition, with superficial scratching throughout the case and bracelet. The matte black dial exudes vintage character, with tritium lume plots aged to a warm, buttery patina. The black bezel insert has faded gracefully to a soft gray, perfectly complementing the dial. This rare example is paired with its original 9315 fold-link Oyster bracelet with 380 end links, 11 links, and dive extension. The clasp has a “C” date stamp, dating the bracelet to approximately 1978. Celebrated as a milestone in Rolex history, the Submariner Ref. 5512 represents the moment the collection evolved into the iconic 40mm professional dive watch recognized today. A coveted piece for any serious collector, this Submariner exemplifies timeless style, historical significance, and exceptional condition.
